

Fasting during Ramadan presents unique challenges for individuals living with diabetes. It is essential for such individuals to plan priorly before the start of ramadan that ensures their safety and well-being throughout a month.
Key Points to Remember
- First consult your GP/Diabetologist/Healthcare Professionals before starting the ramadan fasting
- If necessary do all the required blood investigations as suggested by your doctor for knowing the current blood glucose level
- Based on your blood glucose level and present medical history , follow all the instructions given by your doctor
- Do Continuous Glucose Monitoring/ keep tracking your blood glucose level most of the time during fasting
- Skip sugary drinks and foods is ideal
- Add fibre rich foods with every meal you eat
- Feeling tiredness, dizziness, weakness should consult the doctor/GP immediately
- Do regular physical exercise post meal , gentle walking for 30 mins after meal is good
- Individual with diabetes complications should be very careful in fasting , if your doctor/GP or Diabetologist advise for skipping the fasting , please follow their advices
